TODAY'S LOOK | DIVIDED

Strong lines & colours were the foundation of Today's Look.
I tend to view makeup as art, & because of that, the looks I create tend not to be the most wearable. Like most art, what I create is determined largely by emotion. I was LITERALLY feeling divided about things today, & that came out visually in this look. I also love strong lines & colour! I feel that unwearable, or editorial makeup can be dismissed by the mainstream because it's not considered "normal" or "wearable", or people may feel it's weird. As an artist it can be a struggle to be true to oneself but yet still be appealing. The older I get, the more I find I don't give a damn, & I do what I love. But there is a vast difference between editorial or artistic makeup not being your thing, & dismissing it as not worthy. I've encountered this even with people I know. I could do what's considered wearable, but it wouldn't fulfill me as an artist. And I know more & more as I get older, how important it is to feel fulfilled creatively, or in any way, within your life. It's important to be true to oneself, to respect the creativity you were given, & to give it an outlet, even if it's just in small ways.
