Dark Star 006 Look No.01

Dark Star 006 is the latest offering from mega star makeup artist Pat McGrath. It's a 7 piece kit, & it's available in two separate colour variations: Ultra Violet Blue (pictured), & Ultra Suede Brown. I'm going to give myself away a little here, & let you know that I am DYING to get my grubby little paws on the Brown version of the kit now that I've tried the blue. Obsessed much? Yes, VERY. It retails for $130.00 USD & $175.00 CAN & its available at Sephora & Sephora.com, as well as at patmcgrath.com.

A little background info... Pat McGrath happens to be the most influential makeup artist in the world right now (according to Vogue), & is an international fashion week staple. She is also the Global Creative Design Director for Proctor & Gamble where she is in charge of several brands including Max Factor & Cover Girl, just to name a few.

With the focus on lips for her last offering, Lust 004, the focus is now on eyes with Dark Star. Like Lust, this kit is Limited Edition & only available for a limited time. Included in the kit are 4 pressed powder pigments, a holographic eye gloss, black kohl pencil, & a blending brush to apply the pigments with. Everything is heavily saturated with pigment, meaning that the colour payoff is intense; so intense that the kit comes with a little disclaimer warning that the blue pigment may dye your skin temporarily blue! Don't let that dissuade you from trying this kit however, as it's a joy to use, & every colour is unique & dimensional. I don't think this is meant for the faint of heart, but for lovers of bold colour, this kit is a must. According to Pat McGrath, the kit is meant to simplify the smokey eye; that is to create a smokey eye that looks a bit more edgy and lived in, not so much contoured and perfect.

Verdict? YES. Hell yes. Run don't walk & pick this up before it's gone for good.
